Newie!

So this morning wasn't as spectacular as it could have been, but ultimately I have to admit my life is not that bad.  I try to be as positive a person as I can, so I wouldn't let the morning get me down.  I just prayed that it wasn't a cycle of things to come throughout my day.

I ran out to Sam's Club this morning and got a bunch of new workout clothes.  They have reebok and new balance gear on a one time buy right now.  For about $150 I got 2 dry fit style shirts, 2 pairs of lightweight running pants, 2 pairs of running shorts, 16 pairs of NB running "no show" socks, and a sweet NB running jacket with hood for those rainy days.  Then shot over to dicks sporting goods for some more under armour cold gear for the ski trip and those cold outdoor runs.

Speaking of runs, when I got back from the errands I changed and jumped on the treadmill to dodge running in the freezing cold Pittsburgh rain.  Walked to warm up, ran 3 miles, and walked to cool down.
First mile: 9.67, Second mile: 9.37, Third mile: 9.09.  That was the best 3 miles I have put together in a long time, and I earned 9 activity points on weight watchers.   The ultimate goal is to get down to around 8 minute miles by June when I do the Warrior Dash.  (although faster would also be acceptable!)

After my run I noticed that my stomach was making a sound similar to a rock tumbler, time to dine.  We are getting a little low on a lot of foods, and I wanted to make sure I got some carbs and some protein after the workout.  After rummaging through the cabinets I came up Mac and Peas.  I know it definitely doesn't sound that appealing but stick with me here for a minute.  Seeing as I am a carb junkie I have an endless supply of pasta around the house but am learning quickly that my portion and an actual portion are two largely different animals.  To stick with the diet I only made 1/2 cup (dry) elbow macaroni, 1 cup of sweet peas, 2 tsp of olive oil, a dash of salt, and some crushed red pepper.  It was definitely more tasty than I had originally thought it would be and had 10g of protein.  I am sure I will need a snack in a bit so I will probably have a sliced apple with 2 tablespoon of peanut butter. (5 points).

Hungry Man rating: Satisfied, but could eat some more, hence the snack as soon as I finish typing this.

I still have 24 points left for the day after I finish my snack, so I am definitely going to go all out on dinner.  Planned menu is Salmon Steak, with asparagus, and maybe a side of garlic rice or ranch potatoes.
