just a peek.

I woke up earlier than normal this morning, most likely because the wife isn't feeling well and jumped out of bed at 530am.  She is not going to work today, I on the other hand have an 11 hour shift today so I am jealous.

I am not one to check the scale everyday, I don't care so much about my weight daily but am using the number as an end goal.  But for some reason today while waiting for the water in the shower to heat up I decided to jump on the scale and see how this week is progressing.  The scale showed I am down 2lbs since sunday!  Now according to the weight watchers program the ideal weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week.  So I thought I may have been losing too fast.  I consulted the website to see if I should be eating more of my weekly extra points and found that in the first 3 or 4 weeks the weight loss may be more substantial.  I can handle that!

I need a sustaining breakfast today because my long days can lead to snacking on junk.  So I made a 2 egg omelet, 1/3 cup of shredded sharp cheddar, a few big spoonfuls of spicy salsa, and 1 piece of wholegrain toast no topping.

Hungry Man Rating: happily satisfied but not stuffed to the rafters.

I will take at least 2 lean cuisine meals with me to work, as well as a fiber one bar and plenty of fruit.  That should get me through the day and leave me with enough points when I get home to have a small healthy snack or a glass of 15y.o. Scotch if my nerves are fried.  The plan does say to refrain from alcohol because they are just empty calories like pop and soft drinks.  But I don't want to have to give up the things I love or I wouldn't be able to stick to the program; that is why WW works for me.  The key is not to overindulge.

frank the tank!  frank the tank! frank the tank!

Good Job! Weight loss is always a struggle but worth it. Here are some WW tips: try whole wheat pasta if it's small (angel hair, etc.) you'll barely notice the difference; you've got to get some Arnold bread and Thomas' thin bagels, when you make your omelete pitch one of the yolks (I give it to my dogs so it's not wasted), brown rice and peas and great too. #1 tip progresso light soups - only 1 point!

It seems like you have the right attitude, don't give up the things you love just do it in moderation. Having points seem like a good way to keep yourself in line. Hope Christine feels better sonn.

@SARA...thanks mom :)
@susan....you know the best part for me is that I have to account for everything that I eat...its amazing how much those snacks add up.

You are right that the little things add up, not even knowing that they do, but it is so worth it in the end. The points are a great way to keep track. I have been maintaining for at least 3 years now and I still write down my points.......Go Ron!!!!!!!
